Dental Implant
1. What is dental implant?
Dental Implant (also known as Implant or Implant) is a method of implanting an Implant (artificial tooth root) into the jawbone to replace the old lost tooth root, then a porcelain crown is attached on top to create into a complete tooth with shape and function similar to a real tooth.

2. Structure of dental implant
Dental Implant structure consists of 3 parts:
- Implant head: A dental material with a tapered cylindrical shape made from Titanium that has been tested for safety, acting as a replacement for lost tooth roots and supporting the porcelain crown/bridge above. Currently on the market there are many types of implants with different origins, brands and characteristics.
- Abutment: A dental material with a cylindrical or straight shape, serving as a connection between the Implant and the tooth crown above, and has a long lifespan like the Implant.
- Dental crown: Is the part of the tooth placed on the Implant through the Abutment joint, made from alloy material or dental ceramic, has the same shape and color as the real tooth but is hollow inside.
3. Outstanding advantages of dental implants
Restore chewing function
Suitable for all cases of tooth loss
Aesthetic and natural like real teeth
Prevent complications due to tooth loss
Maximum preservation of real teeth
High durability, lifelong use
4. Disadvantages of dental implants
4.1. Complex technique, requiring many factors
For a successful Implant transplant, it requires a high level of expertise from the Doctor (the most important factor), a standard procedure and modern equipment.
4.2. Relatively high cost
Because it is a complex dental technique, dental implants are quite expensive, but this is still a worthy choice because the lifespan of dental implants can last a lifetime.
5. Medical standard implant procedure

Normally, the dental implant process will go through 4 steps as follows:
Step 1: Examination, photography, and radiography to survey the condition of teeth and jawbone. From there, outline a treatment plan.
Before getting dental implants, you will have a general examination of your oral health and a CBCT scan to know bone density and jaw bone thickness. Based on the results obtained, the doctor will advise and provide an appropriate treatment plan, cost and time for dental implants.
Step 2: Blood test and implant surgery.
Before implant placement, the doctor will prescribe the necessary blood tests to ensure the best health condition. Then perform implant surgery. The patient will be anesthetized/pre-anesthetized during this procedure. In cases of complete tooth loss or loss of front teeth, temporary teeth will be crafted while waiting for the implant to biologically integrate with the body, to ensure aesthetics and help the patient chew and chew more easily.
Step 3: Re-examine and check the condition of teeth after surgery.
Follow up as prescribed for your doctor to check your wound's healing.
Step 4: Restoring porcelain teeth on Implant.
After about 6 - 14 weeks, the implant post has been integrated, the doctor proceeds to install porcelain teeth on the post to complete the dental implant process. This stage usually takes place in 3 - 5 appointments within 5 - 7 days depending on each different tooth condition.
The time to place the implant into the jawbone is relatively fast, only about 20 - 30 minutes/post. However, you need to wait 6 - 14 weeks for the implant to biointegrate, then restore the porcelain tooth, which takes about 5 - 7 days.
So the time to complete the dental implant process takes at least about 6 weeks. For other more complicated cases (such as needing bone grafting or dental disease treatment), dental implant time may take longer.
